Hello, I’m Back

Hello, I’m back after my little break, and I’m in the thick of it, working on The Little Servant. I’m attending the East Midlands Writer’s Conference in March here in Lincoln, and I have just submitted of some extracts of my book to be considered for an agent 1-2-1 review there. It’s not guaranteed though, so keep your fingers crossed for me.

Pause for Thought

I’m going to be taking a bit of time out from writing after the Rue Stone is published.
A good friend of mine has just read the first three chapters of The Wait’s Son for me, and given me a light-bulb moment about the start of the book.
It has always seemed a bit muddled and she’s shed some light on why that is. So I’ll be playing about with that, with the aim of cracking on with the book after Christmas.
It was also my intention to catch up on some reading, and read some different authors to the ones that I normally read.
So far on the list I have Duma Key to finish, by Stephen King, then IT, Stephen King, oh and then The Institute !!
Michelle I will fit in some Sharon Penman – promise!

Write On

My first professional critique has certain spurred me on; I submitted my synopsis, and the first three chapters of my current work, The Little Servant – the Wait’s Son. Regular followers will remember that this is the first book in a trilogy of novels set in the medieval period.

The edited highlights of this review were:-
Very well written, right from the beginning
Emotive and page-turning
Sophisticated use of simile and metaphor
Wonderfully descriptive; a perfect balance
Successful in forcing the reader to ask questions and want to find the answers
Seemingly well researched and formulated
A believable time and setting
The writer excels in the descriptive narrative of the story
There are skilful changes of points of view throughout the story

Very pleased.
